Event photo booth hire

Prom Photo Booth Hire

A photo booth is usually the first thing students head for at a prom and the last thing they leave. Boothdrop Entertainment offers prom photo booth hire for schools, sixth forms, colleges and PTAs, with an attendant present throughout, age-appropriate props, a template your staff sign off and pricing that fits a school budget.

Proms, sixth-form leavers and year 6 parties

We supply year 11 proms, sixth-form and college leavers' balls, and year 6 leavers' parties for primary schools. The format changes with the age group. For a year 6 party we bring bright, simple props, keep sessions short and expect the whole class to go through in groups with a teacher nearby. For a year 11 or year 13 prom, the booth sits closer to the dance floor and the prints become the keepsake students compare on the way home.

Supervision and safeguarding

A professional attendant is with the booth for the entire hire, without exception. They run every session, keep the queue orderly and are the person your staff on duty can speak to. We do not publish any images from a school event online, and nothing goes on our social media or website without written permission from the school. Email and social sharing can be switched off completely so students receive prints only, with the full set handed to the school afterwards on USB.

If your school has a safeguarding or photography policy that suppliers are expected to follow, send it with the booking and we will read it before the night. Our public liability insurance certificate is available for the school office on request.

Props your staff will be happy with

Prom props are chosen for the audience: oversized glasses, hats, signs, feather boas, speech bubbles and plenty of sparkle. There are no alcohol-related props, no drinks props and nothing suggestive in the box. Templates go to the organising teacher for sign-off before they are printed, so the school crest, the year group and the date are correct and the design is something the head is happy to see on two hundred fridge doors.

Getting 150 to 300 students through in two to three hours

Proms are short and students arrive in a wave, so throughput matters more than at almost any other event. Open-air booths such as the Selfie Mirror Pod and Magic Mirror take up to eight in a shot, which suits friendship groups and means fewer sessions to get everyone through. The attendant keeps sessions brisk, prints are handed out as the next group steps up, and the Inflatable Booth lets ten in at once if the hall has the space.

A hire of two to three hours covers a typical prom running from early evening to around 10pm, with the booth busiest in the first hour and again after the meal. Tell us the arrival time and we will have the booth live before the first students walk in.

School halls and hotel function rooms

School halls give us plenty of floor and a stage to tuck the booth beside; hotel function rooms are tighter but come with the lighting and the dance floor. Either way we need a level floor, one standard socket and the footprint for the booth, from 1.5m by 2m for the LCD SlimPod up to 4m by 4m for the Inflatable Booth. We arrive to set up before the students do and pack down quietly once the hall is clearing.

If the prom is at an external venue, give us the name of the venue contact and we will confirm access, parking and unloading with them directly, so the organising teacher has one less call to make on the day.

Pricing that works for a PTA

Packages start from £299 and every one includes the attendant, free delivery, setup and pack-down, unlimited sessions during the hire, props, the signed-off template, LED lighting, digital copies and public liability insurance. An £80 deposit holds the date and the balance is due one month before the prom, which fits neatly with ticket money coming in. We can invoice the school or the PTA, and we reply to enquiries within 24 hours.

  • Attendant present for the entire hire
  • Template approved by a teacher before the night
  • No alcohol-related or inappropriate props
  • No images published without the school's permission
  • Sharing can be switched off so students get prints only
  • Invoice made out to the school or the PTA

Booths that suit a prom

The Selfie Mirror Pod is our usual recommendation: DSLR quality, an instant print for each guest, big groups and a keepsake the student takes home. The Magic Mirror adds on-screen games and animations that go down well with younger year groups. For tight budgets or smaller halls the LCD SlimPod does the job for less, and the Inflatable Booth, lit in the school colours, is the showpiece for a large leavers' ball. We cover schools across London, the South East, the Home Counties, the East of England and the Midlands.

Proms Photo Booth FAQs

Is there always an adult from your team with the booth?

Yes. A professional attendant stays with the booth for the entire hire, runs every session, manages the queue and is the point of contact for your staff on duty. The booth is never left running unattended, and the attendant will follow any instructions from the teachers supervising the event.

Will the students' photos end up on social media?

Not from us. We never publish images from a school event online or use them on our website or social media without written permission from the school. Email and social sharing can be switched off so students receive prints only, and the full set is handed to the school on USB.

What props do you bring to a school prom?

Hats, oversized glasses, signs, speech bubbles, feather boas and plenty of sparkle, chosen for the age group. There are no alcohol-related props, no drinks props and nothing suggestive. If the school would like to approve the props list beforehand, or has a theme, send it with the booking.

How long should we book the booth for a prom?

Two to three hours suits most proms. Students arrive in a wave, the booth is busiest in the first hour and again after the meal, and open-air booths taking up to eight a shot get 150 to 300 students through comfortably in that time. We set up before arrival and pack down once the hall is clearing.

Can a teacher approve the print design first?

Yes, and we expect it. We send the template to the organising teacher for sign-off before the prom so the crest, year group, date and wording are right. Nothing is printed until it has been approved, and changes before the event are no trouble.

Can you invoice the PTA?

We can invoice the school or the PTA, whichever is paying. Packages start from £299, an £80 deposit holds the date and the balance is due one month before the prom. If the PTA needs a quote on headed paper for a committee meeting, ask and we will send one.
