Practical notes on access and power in Hertfordshire venues

Hotels along the M25 and M1 corridors generally have a loading entrance, a goods lift and a function room with sockets on several walls, which keeps setup quick. Barns in the north of the county around Hitchin, Royston and Bishop's Stortford are often reached by a gravel track and may have one socket in the whole building; our attendant carries a long extension lead and a levelling base for uneven floors. First-floor rooms in older pubs and clubs are manageable by stairs for most models, though the Inflatable Booth is best kept at ground level.

If the venue has a separate evening guest list, make sure the booth is still live when they arrive. A personalised print template with names and the date is included and proofed in advance.

Prom season brings bookings from schools in Stevenage, Harpenden, Hitchin and the Watford area. Hotels and golf clubs are the usual venues, and we set up well before the students arrive.
