The city centre has hotels with function suites, racecourse and showground-style venues on the edge of town host larger events, golf clubs are popular for weddings and proms, and parkland venues with marquee lawns take summer receptions. Barn weddings, proms and Christmas parties

A barn wedding needs a little forethought for a booth. Floors can be flagstone or timber, power is usually at the edges of the room, and the booth needs to be far enough from the band for guests to hear the attendant. We ask for the socket location and a floor plan, tape cables down and build during the meal so the booth is ready when the dancing starts.

Chelmsford's prom season runs through late June and early July, mostly at hotels and golf clubs, and the schools often want their crest on every print. Getting the booth in and built

Barn venues almost always have a gravel car park or a yard close to the door, which suits us well. City-centre hotels may direct us to a loading bay or service entrance; parts of the centre are pedestrianised, so we never rely on street parking and always agree the unloading point beforehand. Marquee venues need a track a vehicle can reach and a reliable power feed, which we confirm with the venue.

The build takes 45 to 60 minutes and is finished before the hire window begins, with no charge for that time. One standard socket is enough for most booths. Few barns have stairs, but hotel function rooms sometimes do, and a quick note at booking means we bring the right kit.
