Cambridge is the county town of Cambridgeshire and the centre of our Cambridgeshire coverage. Within the city we work in the centre, Cherry Hinton, Chesterton, Trumpington and Newnham, and we regularly head to Ely and St Ives, or across the county lines to Newmarket in Suffolk, Saffron Walden in Essex and Royston in Hertfordshire. The M11, A14, A10 and A1303 make the city easy to reach. Delivery and setup are included; if a far-flung venue ever needed a travel contribution, it would be on the quote before you commit.

Timed access, lodges and the one-socket rule

The city centre has restricted vehicle access and park and ride is no help when there is a booth to unload, so every central booking starts with a conversation about how the vehicle gets to the door. Colleges typically allow a timed delivery slot through a gated entrance, confirmed via the porters' lodge, and they want the registration in advance. We arrive inside the slot, unload at the agreed point and move the vehicle straight away.

Building the booth takes 45 to 60 minutes and is never charged as hire time. One standard socket within reach of the booth and a level floor are all we need. Lifts are rare in older buildings, so upstairs rooms mean a carried booth, and listed-building rules mean nothing is fixed to walls or taped to historic floors.

College rooms, hotels and campus venues

College venues are the most distinctive: dining halls, function rooms and marquees on college lawns, reached through narrow gated entrances and lanes that were never designed for vehicles. Hotels in the city and on the outskirts host weddings and corporate dinners, riverside venues near the punting stretches are popular for summer parties, and community centres and sports clubs in Chesterton and Cherry Hinton host birthdays. The science park to the north and the biomedical campus to the south have conference facilities used for launches and company celebrations.

May Balls, graduations and science park events

May Balls and college events are planned by student committees working to tight budgets and late finishes. Unlimited sessions within the hire window mean the booth earns its place, and a slim pod that fits through an archway is usually the practical answer. Graduation parties cluster around the ceremonies and are often lunches or early-evening receptions in hotels and hired rooms, where a print booth and guest book give families something to take home.

Corporate events at the science park and the biomedical campus are a different brief altogether: branded overlays, instant digital delivery, social sharing and sometimes a green screen so that guests appear in front of a product or campaign backdrop. The venues are modern, with loading bays, lifts and ample parking, so the only question is which booth suits the brand.

Booths that fit Cambridge

The LCD SlimPod is the most requested booth in Cambridge for a simple reason: at 36 centimetres wide it fits through the narrowest lodge, needs a 1.5 by 2 metre floor space and still delivers prints, GIFs and smart background removal. The GIF Booth uses the same hardware without a printer and is the go-to for campus corporate work. The Magic Mirror is the choice for weddings and balls where the room has space for a 2-metre square and a touch of theatre.

All three come with an attendant, stick props and a template designed around your college crest, names or company logo. Each of them shares digital copies by email during the event, so a ball committee or marketing team has the full gallery the next morning without chasing anyone for it.

Booking and inclusions

Packages start at £299, with an £80 deposit to hold the date and the balance due one month before the event. Included are a professional attendant, unlimited sessions, props, a custom print or overlay template with your text and logo, guest book on print booths, digital copies with email and social sharing, LED lighting and public liability insurance, which college and campus venues will ask to see.
