Photo Booth Trends for 2025
Photo booths have moved a long way from a box with a curtain. For 2025 the trends we are seeing at weddings, launches and parties are about movement, sharing and style. Here is what is gaining ground, what each one is good for and how to decide whether it belongs at your event.

360 video booths
The 360 booth has become the headline act at launches and milestone parties. Guests stand on a platform while a camera arm sweeps around them in slow motion, and the clip is set to music, dressed with an overlay and shared within moments. It rewards confidence and costumes, which is why it works so well at proms, brand activations and big birthdays. It also needs more room than a traditional booth and a clear circle for the arm, so it is a question for the venue early on rather than an afterthought.
GIFs and boomerangs over stills
A single still photo competes with every other picture on a guest's phone. A three-second boomerang of the same group jumping, or a GIF that stitches four frames into a loop, gets watched and shared. Digital-only booths built around this format are now a standard request for corporate events, where the measure of success is how far the content travels. Expect to see more hybrid setups too, where guests get a print for the guest book and a GIF for their feed from the same session.
AI background removal
Green screens used to be the only way to drop guests into a beach, a boardroom or a ballroom. Smart background removal now does it with software, cutting guests out cleanly in real time without a coloured backdrop, special lighting or a bigger footprint. For planners that means branded or themed backgrounds in venues where a green screen would never have fitted, and no odd green fringe around hair. It is already built into some slim open-air pods, and we expect it to become the default rather than the premium option.
Glam black-and-white
The glossy, high-contrast black-and-white look seen at celebrity events continues to be the style request we hear most from couples. It uses soft, even light and a touch of skin smoothing to give everyone a magazine finish, and because it strips out colour it flatters almost any outfit and any venue. The trade-off is that themed props and colourful backdrops lose their impact, so it suits elegant weddings and black-tie dinners more than a neon-lit 21st. A good booth can switch between glam and colour for each event, so ask for a sample strip.
Audio guest books
Alongside the photo guest book, a growing number of couples are adding an audio guest book: a vintage-style telephone where guests pick up the handset and leave a recorded message. It captures voices, laughter and the things people would never write down, and it sits naturally next to a photo booth. It is a separate product rather than a feature of a booth, so if you want both, plan the space and the power for two stations and brief whoever is hosting to point guests towards each in turn.
Choosing the trends that suit your event
Not every trend belongs at every event. The question to ask is what you want guests to leave with. If the answer is a keepsake, prints and a guest book still win, and glam black-and-white elevates them. If the answer is reach, GIFs, boomerangs and 360 video are designed to be shared. If the answer is a clever fit for a tricky room, background removal on a slim pod solves more problems than it creates. Tell your supplier the venue, the guest profile and the goal, and let the technology follow from that rather than the other way round.
Most of the trends above are things we run week in, week out: 360 video, GIFs and boomerangs, smart background removal and custom templates in any style. If you are planning a 2025 event and want to know which of them will land with your guests, send us the details and we will give you a straight answer and a quote from £299.
