Booths with the looks for a riverside wedding

Couples marrying in the south west tend to choose venues with a bit of history, and they want a booth that will not jar with a panelled room or a candlelit marquee. The Retro Pod answers that brief well: a slim open-air pod with a DSLR camera, classic photo-strip prints and an inbuilt printer that keeps the cables out of sight. The Selfie Mirror Pod is another compact, elegant option, a half-mirror screen on a slim stand that fits in 2m by 2m and prints for each guest.

Where the room is generous, the Magic Mirror remains the wedding favourite across Richmond, Kingston and Wimbledon, with full-length animations and games and a guest book kept by the attendant. All three come with a print template carrying your names and date, digital copies and social sharing.

Riverside weddings, proms and summer parties

Weddings here are mostly summer affairs in riverside hotels, Georgian houses and marquees along the Thames, with evening receptions that run until midnight. A planner's main checks are power and floor: for a marquee we need a standard socket within reach of an extension lead and a solid, level surface for the booth. Summer parties and corporate socials around Wimbledon are busy in late June and early July, so book that fortnight early.

Proms for schools in Richmond, Kingston and Wandsworth land in the same window and are usually in hotel function suites or rowing and sports clubs on the river. Birthdays, from 18ths at Kingston bars to 50ths in Barnes pub gardens, run all year, and corporate Christmas parties fill hotels in Richmond and Putney from late November.

Narrow lanes, towpaths and the A3

The A3 through Wandsworth and Kingston, the A316 out to Twickenham and the start of the M3 at Sunbury are our arterial routes, and the South Circular through Putney and Sheen links the rest. Richmond, Twickenham and Barnes have narrow residential streets and some riverside venues are reached by a towpath or a single-track lane, so we ask every venue for its delivery instructions and arrive with time in hand. Hotels and sports clubs have car parks; pubs on the river often have a short unloading spot and little else, in which case we unload and move the van.

ULEZ applies across the area and is our cost. Georgian houses and first-floor rooms in older pubs can mean stairs without a lift, which the slim pods manage but the Magic Mirror, Party Booth and Inflatable Booth do not; those three need a lift or a ground-floor room. Setup is 45 to 60 minutes before the hire window and is not charged, and we need one standard socket, or two for the Inflatable.

  • Delivery instructions requested from every riverside venue
  • ULEZ handled by us
  • Slim pods for upstairs rooms, heavier booths for ground floor or lift
  • One socket, two for the Inflatable Booth
  • Setup 45 to 60 minutes before your hire, free of charge

Richmond to Wimbledon: our coverage

Our South West London area covers Wandsworth, Richmond upon Thames, Kingston upon Thames and the Wimbledon side of Merton. In district terms that is Richmond, Twickenham, Teddington, Sheen, Barnes, Putney, Battersea, Wandsworth, Tooting, Wimbledon, Kingston and Surbiton. Hampton and Hampton Wick on the far edge of Richmond borough are covered too.

Venues across the Surrey border in Esher, Weybridge, Epsom and Walton-on-Thames sit on our Surrey page, but they are a few minutes down the A3 and the booking works the same way. A single enquiry covers venues on either side of the boundary.

The venue landscape in the south west

Riverside hotels and pubs on the Thames between Putney and Kingston are the signature venues, joined by rowing, cricket and tennis clubs with function rooms, Georgian and Victorian houses hired for weddings in Twickenham, Richmond and Barnes, parish and community halls around Wimbledon and Teddington, school halls in Kingston and Wandsworth, and the newer bars and event spaces of Battersea.

Many of these are listed buildings with specific supplier rules about floor protection, candles and noise, and our attendants are used to working within them; send the venue's supplier guidelines and we will confirm the booth fits before you pay the deposit.

Good to know

Photo Booth Hire in South West London: Local FAQs

Where will you park at a riverside pub in Richmond or Putney?

Riverside pubs often have a short unloading spot and nothing more, so we unload there, move the kit in on trolleys and park the van nearby. Hotels and sports clubs have car parks. Send any delivery instructions the venue gives you and we will follow them to the letter.

The reception is on the first floor of a Georgian house with no lift. Which booth should we pick?

One of the slim pods: the Retro Pod, Selfie Mirror Pod, LCD SlimPod and GIF Booth are all carried up stairs. The Magic Mirror, Party Booth and Inflatable Booth need a lift or a ground-floor room, so for a first-floor reception without a lift, choose from the slim options.

Is there a travel charge for Hampton, Teddington or the Surrey edge?

No. Delivery, setup and pack-down are included across South West London and over the border into Surrey. If a travel contribution ever applies to a far-flung venue, it is shown on the quote up front, and the Surrey edge is well inside our normal range.

Can you set up in a marquee by the river?

Yes. We need a solid, level floor, a standard socket within reach of an extension lead and cover from the weather, which a marquee provides. Flag any uneven ground or a long cable run and we will advise on the best booth for the setup.

Our venue wants a copy of your public liability insurance. Can you send it?

Certainly. We are fully insured and send the certificate to venues, planners and clubs on request. Listed houses and rowing clubs in the area often ask for it alongside their supplier guidelines, so request it when you book and we will email it straight over.
